PSYC4001 IN-CLASS INFORMATION SEMINAR
HONOURS THESIS & GRADUATE SCHOOL INFORMATION SESSIONS - Fall & Winter 2011-12
Information sessions for fourth year Honours students will be held on Mondays at 4:30pm (with the exception of Wednesday, February 22 at 11:30am) in Room 163 Behavioral Science Building (across from the Information centre on the ground floor of the building) unless otherwise noted. The information sessions typically last one to two hours. Attendance is voluntary, but recommended. Third year Honours students may also find these workshops helpful, and are welcome to attend. A brief outline of topics to be covered this term is presented below.

- GPS members will be at Dr. Eastwood’s Psych4001 lecture on September 16, 2012 to talk to Specialized Honours students about applying to graduate school, applying for funding, a day-in-the-life of a graduate student, and the GPS mentorship program.

- STARTING TO WRITE YOUR THESIS | Open to Honours students
- This workshop will focus on the process of writing an Honours Thesis, outlining how each section of the thesis should be structured.
- February 6, 2012, 4:30-6:30 PM | 163 Behavioural Sciences Building
- WRITING THE GRADUATE RECORD EXAM | Open to Honours students
- There is a computerized General Test and a Psychology Subject Test. They take place at different places and times. For example, while computerized general tests are held every week, the next Psychology Subject test scheduled for April 21st, 2012 registration deadline is March 16th, 2012 or earlier in March if you are writing through a supplementary test center. Further details about the GRE will be provided at the workshop.

- APPLYING TO GRADUATE SCHOOLS | Open to Honours students
- This session covers all aspects of the graduate school application process for psychology. Information is also given on the selection process.
- February 27, 2012, 4:30-6:30 PM | 163 Behavioural Sciences Building
- GETTING FUNDS FOR GRADUATE STUDIES | Open to Honours students
- Information on applying for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) and other alternative sources will be provided. All exact deadlines will be posted on the Honours student webpage when they are known, please check the site from time to time for the most up-to-date information. This information will become available early Fall 2012.
